Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Milsim?
A: We are a group of Milsim style paintball players who love the game, and want to play this game with as many like minded people as possible. For the 2010 season, we have started small with the expectation on growing even larger and representing the Maritimes as Eastern Canada's finest Milsim team.
Q: When does the Milsim season start?
A: We generally start the season in May, but that may change depending on the weather. We do play all year round though, but with the winter, it depends on the weather.
Q: Who can join?
A: Although we encourage players of all ages, we require parental consent, and signing of a waiver, for those under the age of 16.
Q: Do I need a team to join?
A: No. Each of our game days will have teams randomly created to keep the play fun, and dynamic. If we are doing a scenario or milsim style game, you maybe asked to be the Op-force for the game at hand.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Currently, if your running HPA, then $5 per month. This is so we can continue to maintain a full scuba tank for air on the days we play, plus rent additional tanks. As we grow, we plan to help off set some travel costs, as well as the purchase of props used for the various games played, but holding fundraisers, taking collections could be part of the future.
Q: What do I get for my membership?
A: Registered members get a discount on paint and field fees from BallBreakersPaintball. This discount applies to those who play on a regular basis. After you have played with us for 3 months and are excepted as part of the team, we will issue you your Team SMERF combat soft baseball cap, which is used to represent SMERF at field events both on and off island. Also other sponsor goodies await!
Q: When and where are the games?
A: Game days are Saturday's or Sunday's depending on the weather and team availability. Our home field is Ballbreakerspaintball.ca. Throughout the season, we are looking at traveling to other fields throughout the province, such as Indian River Paintball (IRP), Crossfire Adventures, or Brooklyn paintball. We plan to do a few trips off Island in the 2011 season, places like MerseyRoad, NS and Mission PB, NB.
Q: What are the restrictions on markers?
A: Players who join Milsim Team Paintball are required to use some form of Milsim styled marker. These include, but are not limited to, Tippmann markers, magazine fed markers (Milsig), Tacamo, and others that have a Milsim look. These markers should also be either magazine fed, or have tactical caps (tac caps) of no more than 50 rounds, maximum capacity. We can help get you to this point.
Also, the use of grenades is acceptable, but must first be approved for use by the field management. Smoke grenades, again, must be approved by the field owners before use; as well as other types of ordinance (LAWs, mortars, etc)
